[VIDEO] Google Unveils The NASCAR of the Future with Partnership Prank

Google's made no secret of its ambition to build a self-driving car so this weekend it took advantage of the opportunity to poke fun at itself by partnering with NASCAR on this video and news release.

Both parties confirmed the suspected prank yesterday, but Google co-founder Sergey Brin did hint that the two companies could collaborate more in the future.

"We were really happy to work with NASCAR on this April Fools' Day joke," said Sergey Brin, Google co-founder, in a post on the company's blog. "The technological advancements this sport has made in the last decade are impressive and while we won't be providing self-driving cars to compete in the races, we look forward to working together with NASCAR in the future on projects like their YouTube channel."

In other fake news, Skoda, sponsored Sydney Harbour Bridge to provide anyone driving a Skoda with a toll-free trip through the iconic towers, which the Czech automaker said would be completely rebranded with Skoda flags.
