World's Largest Outdoor Rodeo Drops 'Chew' Deal

For decades tobacco companies like Skoal have been a major supporter of outdoor rodeos throughout the country, including the Cheyenne Frontier Days. After years of lobbying from health-related organizations, the event's officials are ending the tradition.


Cheyenne Frontier Days officials ended their partnership with smokeless tobacco last week and have agreed to instead promote Wyoming's "Quit Tobacco Program." The move is part of a $45,000 sponsorship from the Wyoming Department of Health.

Frontier Days General Chairman Rod Hottle said, "It was purely on our part a business decision to seek other sponsorship."
