Maxibasketball originated in 1969. It emerged in response to the growing interest among older adults in continuing to play basketball competitively. Today, Maxibasketball provides opportunities for men and women, typically aged 30 and above, to participate in leagues and tournaments adapted to their age group.
The Federation (FIMBA), was founded in 1991 during the first World Championship and has played a significant role in organizing and coordinating international Maxibasketball competitions, contributing to the growth and recognition of the concept on a global scale.I’m facing a technical issue with the sponsoring request platform; hence I thought that I would write to you directly.
Our association, FIMBA Switzerland has been awarded the organization of the 17th FIMBA World Maxibasketball Championship, which will take place in Ticino from 27 June to 6 July 2025.
The Championship in key numbers:

• 350+ teams from all over the world
• 5,000+ athlete and companions
• 28 gyms
• 1,000+ games
• 3 FIMBA Villages (1 per city – F&B, entertainment, sponsor lounges and more).
• All games to be streamed from day 1
• 10’000+ visitors
This is the largest amateur basketball event in the world, and in terms of athletes, it is larger than the winter Olympics.
