The RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup is a women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour. It debuted in 2011 at the Wildfire Golf Club at JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. The tournament is designed as a tribute to the founders of the LPGA.
The event, LPGA commissioner Mike Whan’s brainchild, got off to a rough start in 2011 when controversy brewed among star players who were unimpressed with the idea of a mock purse, in which all proceeds went to charity.
