The Myrtle Beach Marathon, established in 1997, is a Boston Qualifier that offers a flat course for fast times and a great setting for fun. Last year’s event drew around 10,000 people.
But the marathon wanted to tap the resources of a business such as MyrtleBeach.com to reach more potential runners, Walsh said. MyrtleBeach.com, based in Myrtle Beach, caters to potential visitors with hotel and other information on the website and has hundreds of thousands of followers on its Facebook page.
