Reporting to the Senior Director of Entertainment Marketing, the Manager will oversee the needs and priorities of the organization by managing the development and implementation of the department’s strategic objectives for engaging the entertainment industry and celebrities alike to advance UNICEF’s mission. The Manager must have extensive knowledge of the entertainment and talent industries and highly proficient with outreach, working with entertainment and media companies, talent representatives, handling correspondence, conducting research and developing presentations/proposals.
This position can be based in the NYC National Headquarters or in the Southern California Regional Office in Los Angeles, CA.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Manage relationships and liaise with entertainment industry executives, agents, managers, publicists, celebrities, and other high profile talent
Manage relationships with UNICEF Ambassadors and UNICEF Supporters (high-profile celebrities who hold these titles for the organization)
Oversee day to day management of campaigns, events, and special projects related to USF’s education, advocacy and fundraising objectives
Manage all logistics and other details related to entertainment and celebrity engagement activities from start to finish
Generate creative ideas for potential new business partnerships with entertainment or talent to support USF campaigns, special events and initiatives
Assist in the development of strategies, proposals and presentations for the entertainment industry, entertainment companies and celebrity participation
Vet and conduct background information on opportunities for potential entertainment cause-marketing related partnerships
Create compelling “asks” for Ambassadors and celebrities to support USF events and initiatives
Write impact reports and evaluations of Ambassador and celebrity supporter activities. Additional creative writing pertaining to informing constituents and the entertainment community about activities for USF
Liaise with all internal departments on celebrity-related activities and events
Provide guidance internally on shaping the strategic use of entertainment and celebrities to support USF activities
Day-to-day point person for our entertainment PR firm
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 - 7 years’ related experience
Experience working in talent/entertainment and sports industry
Strong organizational and management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
Must have an understanding of fundraising and a knowledge of how “celebrity” and events can be used for fundraising purposes
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with great attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, manage multiple projects and tasks, support a variety of departments, and manage expectations and deadlines
Must demonstrate high level of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with celebrity/entertainment professionals and situations
Ability to problem-solve and handle difficult/sensitive situations in a timely and appropriate manner
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes some weekend and evening commitments, as well as business related travel (nationally and possibly internationally)
