Schneider Electric is seeking a strategic, innovative and experienced individual to take on a Director of Event & Sponsorship Marketing position. The candidate will have strong background in this marketing environment with a solid understanding of event & sponsorship planning, execution and measurement best practices.


In support of North American business strategy, the Director of Event & Sponsorship Marketing prioritizes and assigns teams to create, support and execute world class events and sponsorships that excite, engage and educate prospects and customers leaving them with a strong and positive brand experience. The Director will build, drive and manage building the event & sponsorship strategy aligned to business objectives to ensure event success and excellence in event marketing execution. The Director develops and manages promotional events and sponsorships, demand generation, and materials to achieve strategic and business development goals.


The role will require proven ability to manage the needs of the multiple stakeholders and clients, strategy and execution challenges. Candidate should be able to demonstrate strong proficiency with key role competencies including leadership, management of multiple priorities, exceptional communication skills, and strong cross-team collaboration abilities.


Key responsibilities

  • Plans and assigns cross team event & sponsorship resources based on needs, objectives, resources, geography and timing.
  • Determines and manages relationships with support vendors (warehouse, travel, hotel/venue, large sponsorships, etc.)
  • Oversee design, layout, cost estimates, transportation logistics, and implementation of the trade exhibit program including all pre-show planning, document preparation, packing, and shipping required for the successful running of shows.
  • Capture customer feedback, interest and demand reported at trade shows/sponsorship venues and escalate to the concerned business departments promptly.
  • Plan and design supporting marketing and promotional materials for trade shows and coordinates attending staff.
  • Develop processes and metrics to ensure the highest level of return on company objectives and investment at events & sponsorships.
  • Arrange all aspects of seminars and other informational and business development events and hospitality at facilities in various locations and in-house special events.
  • Remain up to date on industry trends in sponsorship, hospitality, tradeshows, event design, alternative media, event production, and research methods.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with marketing-related vendors including exhibit, sponsorship, event, printers, graphic agencies, design agencies, trade journals, Web and multimedia developers, and promotional products vendors.
  • Arrange trade show logistics to ensure efficiency and appropriate budgeting.
  • Manages, develops and mentors event team to hone event planning and promotion skills to be industry leading
  • Plans and assigns event specialists to a variety of large, customer, regional and small events based on event needs and objectives
  • Works closely with counterparts including Business Unit Marketers and Marketing Communications team to continually find synergies, added value and opportunity to create more engaging and productive event and sponsorship experiences


    Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications or equivalent;
  • 10+ years experience planning and managing events and marketing team in multi-national companies;
  • Strong business sense, strategic and visionary thinker with excellent presentation skills;
  • Ability to drive meetings, sponsorships, trade shows, corporate event planning;
  • Strong experience in team management;
  • Experience working with corporate sponsorship planning;
  • Experience working with tradeshow planning to include booth location and logistics selection, executing marketing strategies for business unit at tradeshows, ROI measurements and managing selected vendor relationships;
  • Experience working with project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control;
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with clients and upper management, articulate and comfortable with speaking in public;
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and change.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 35%)
