The Manager, Sponsorship Sales & Business Development for NYTLive will join an entrepreneurial team that is building a new portfolio of world-class conferences and live events for top audiences in a range of sectors, with a focus on the most compelling and timely topics in the market. Hosted by senior editors of The New York Times, NYTLive conferences and events are editorial products – live journalism – and feature the leading figures of our time.


The purpose of this role will be to grow the porfolio of sponsors and prospects for NYTLive and drive revenue growth for US conferences, TimesTalks and new consumer events. This position will report to the Executive Director, Sponsorships and Business Development and will work closely with the Manager, Conference Activations and the wider NYT sales team.


Key areas of responsibility:

  • Work with Executive Director to create sales tools including decks and proposals developing compelling narratives and establishing brand alignment between NYTLive and prospective partners.
  • Manage and develop the sponsorship pipeline — develop targeted prospect lists of potential sponsors for each conference, finding appropriate contacts for each company.
  • Working with Manager, Conference Activations to identify digital and experiential opportunities to develop into executable proposals for potential sponsors.
  • Initial outreach to relevant/blue chip companies to set up introductory meetings/calls.
  • Aggressive research of conference/live events industry trends relevant to sponsorship.
  • Tracking prospects through sales process using Salesforce and provide regular pipeline updates to accurately capture all sales activity.
  • Collaborate with Executive Director and Manager, Conference
  • Activations to create tailored strategic marketing plans, grow existing product offerings and introduce new product opportunities to meet or exceed annual sales targets.
  • Attending industry events and develop relationships with brands, marketing and HR professionals as a representative of NYTLive.


    Required Skills

    Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 2 – 4 years experience in a sales support role.
  • Undergraduate degree (business, marketing or communications related field preferred).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce, Excel and Keynote preferred.
  • Familiarity with Google & Adobe Suites preferred.
  • Detail oriented with excellent time management skills.
