The Sr. Sports Marketing Manager oversees all sports marketing aspects from budget, strategy and execution for assigned categories: athlete programs and related activities, events and content management in the fulfilment of brand goals and objectives. The Sr. Manager guides the team to leverage their strengths in sport supporting athletes, events and partnerships and establishing new opportunities. This position works closely with the Sports Marketing Director to define and implement the strategy and manage all aspects of the sports vertical.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drives the domestic and/or global sport specific strategy, ensuring alignment with the Oakley Global brand vision
Implements sport strategy globally for assigned category/categories; examples include partnerships, support for maintenance and management of social media channels, and product seeding
Oversees respective sport portfolios, including athletes, teams, events, federations and partnerships
Serves as an ambassador through proactive collection and transmission of outside constituent product feedback
Manages budgets related to specific sports verticals
Serves as liaison between global Sports Marketing team and other internal and external stakeholders for sport vertical
Leverages relationships with VPL and R&D to validate products and identify potential opportunities
Collaborates with the Marketing Events team on opportunities that align with sport contract/s
Integrates sports seamlessly across Digital, PR, advertising, media and brand experiences
Ensures that sports activities, content, strategy and promotion drives ROI for cross-functional objectives, including Sales/Commercial, media and digital teams
Identifies future online content opportunities – remains consistently embedded in the industry and has a pulse on content distribution opportunities
Maintains business development and related licensing agreements within sports
Coordinates with product and sales teams on specific sport related SKUs
Identifies and recruits influential athletes and industry leaders to represent Oakley
Negotiates, develops, and manages contracts with athletes representing Oakley
Develops and manages relationships within the sports industry, media, commentators, cameramen and photographers to enhance Oakley sports marketing efforts
Bachelor’s Degree
8+ years field Sports Marketing field experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training to achieve the required knowledge, skills and abilities
5+ years prior team management skills
Experience working in the sports industry
Marketing, people, and project management experience within the industry
Effective communication, presentation and teamwork skills
Writing and editing skills
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent diplomacy and negotiation skills
Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, deadline oriented environments
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate degree in Sports Marketing or related
Experience managing athlete contracts and relationships
