IMG Secures 24-School College Football Sponsorship

IMG has secured another national marketing partner in automaker, Hyundai. Hyundai Motor America will launch a college football platform at 15 IMG schools this year with nine additional schools to be added to the program in 2012.

Hyundai will receive rights to vehicle displays on-site, media and hospitality opportunities, as well as digital marketing programs at Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, California, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia Tech this season. According to CNBC's Darren Rovell, Hyundai will also become the official automoble at each of these schools.

"Hyundai's significant commitment to campus marketing at schools across the country further validates the national sponsorship platform built by IMG College and the strong momentum of collegiate sports," said Roger VanDerSnick, chief sales and marketing officer for IMG College told the Winston-Salem Journal. "Dealers will benefit from customer engagement and business-to-business opportunities in an exciting atmosphere at some of the largest events in sports."

According to an IMG Spokesperson, school selection came down to a number of factors including "local auto-manufacturer relationships, broadcast and sponsorship assets at the schools, and the ESPN matchups."

The deal is the latest in a string of major sponsor announcements from IMG College, which represents over 70 properties and aims to offer national advertisers a one stop shop for college sports marketing deals.

Separate of the deal, Hyundai sponsors ESPN's Thursday night college football broadcast and currently holds a four year deal to title sponsor the Sun Bowl through 2013.
