Seven Sponsorship Categories for Spring '19

Ready to Spring into the third quarter with some new sponsors? Timing is everything when preparing your sponsorship pitch and so seasonally, SponsorPitch take a look at some of the top sponsor categories to watch for in the upcoming season. Here's a few sponsor categories we expect will come out of hibernation with increased sponsorship activity in the coming months:

  • Wine and Spirits: Mike's Hard Lemonade, Tito's and Don Julio are major sponsors on the summer festival circuit. That said, look for wines, rum and hard seltzer to be the flavors of this summer. Names to watch with increasing sponsorship activity this Spring include Pernod Ricard's Campo Viejo, E&J Gallo's RumHaven, Campari's Aperol, Mike's White Claw Hard Seltzer and Boston Beer's Truly Spiked & Sparkling.
  • Real Estate: While coworking may get all the ink, old school real estate companies like CBRE and Halstead have been active recently. That's no surprise as these companies look to cash in on Spring, the high season for housing sales. Similarly, don’t forget well-funded real estate technology platforms like Compass, which has added sponsorship deals this month with the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships and Newport Beach Film Festival.
  • Fitness Clubs: With more consumers taking their workouts outside, look for popular fitness clubs to find new ways to get people into the gym. Cue new sponsorships with hit reality tv shows, MLB teams, tennis tournaments and popular running series.
  • Meal Kits: With beach season right around the corner, don't look for the popularity of meal delivery plans to slow down. Trifecta Nutrition, Clean Eats, DeliverLean and Blue Apron are a few of the companies in this category using experiential marketing to differentiate, create awareness and capture market share in an industry that some forecast will double to $10 billion by 2020.
  • Gambling: The legalization of sports gambling in many states is creating massive new revenue opportunities for teams and leagues. As forecasted, deal flow in this category MGM Resorts, Caesars and William Hill to be the most active while a whole host of local casinos get in on the action through individual team deals.
  • Cannabis: CBD is back on our radar with a ton of recent new deals along with wider acceptance for cannabis use. Look no further than the Bay Area to usher in a new wave of cannabis sponsorships with Bay to Breakers and Noise Pop Festival recently lining up new sponsors in the category.
  • Ridesharing: With both Lyft and Uber announcing plans for 2019 IPO's, it is no surprise to see both heavyweights hustling to line up high profile sponsorships this year such as Uber's recent deals with Coachella, Stagecoach, the NCAA and South by Southwest.

These are just a few categories from the more than 450 sponsorship categories on SponsorPitch that we see heating up with the Spring temps. Take a look back at a few of our categories to watch from this Winter.
