WPS Considers League Naming-Rights

Women's Professional Soccer to date has signed 5 non-endemic sponsors (Puma, Hint, MedImmune, Coast Guard and Advocare), but the biggest deal may yet remain as SBJ today reports that Commish Tonya Antonucci is considering selling presenting and title sponsorship across the entire league.


Soccer United Marketing (SUM) holds the sponsorship rights for WPS and has reportedly been making progress with many national categories. See our previous post on last month's WPS Sponsor Summit.

Sports Business Journal's Tripp Mickle today reports:

In an effort to boost its sponsorship revenue, Women’s Professional Soccer is selling a league presenting sponsorship and may be open to selling a league title sponsorship instead, Commissioner Tonya Antonucci said. The sales proposition could make WPS a corporate-branded league.
