The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a global gathering of people who work with creativity in communications. Each year it awards Lions to the best work in brand communications across all media platforms, and offers an intense learning programme during Festival week.

During seven days in June, 12,000 people from 92 countries gather in Cannes, France, to network and to listen to speakers such as Bill Clinton, Alain de Botton, Kofi Annan, Mark Zuckerberg, Vivienne Westwood, Spike Jonze, Al Gore, Maurice Lévy and David Droga discuss the future of creative communications. They study around 35,000 pieces of entered work across eleven categories: Film, Press, Outdoor, Cyber, Creative Effectiveness, Media, Direct, Radio, Promo & Activation, Film Craft, Design, PR, Mobile, Brand Content & Entertainment, Titanium and Integrated, and Innovation. The winners are celebrated at four award ceremonies throughout the week.

The Festival tries to support young talent as much as possible and organises Young Lions Competitions during Festival week which challenge young creative teams to finish a piece of advertising for a charity in 24 hours. Also, young creative professionals and clients have their own area at the Festival venue, the Young Lions Zone, where master classes are held that focus on issues relevant to them.

The next Festival will be held from 15 to 21 June 2014. read more
