Cricket
Tamil Eelam Cricket is an international not-for-profit organization formed in August 2015 to promote and support participation in cricket as a unifying link between the Tamil homeland and various Diaspora communities. It is also a means of strengthening cultural identity.

The Tamil people of Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon by the British, and Eelam by the Tamils) live predominantly on the north and east of the island. They also live in other parts of the island and all over the world as a diaspora. The Eelam Tamil community shares a common history, tradition, culture, language, sense of homeland - and a love of cricket.

The formation of an international Tamil Eelam cricket team is envisaged as a medium to bring together the global Tamil community and to strengthen and promote Tamil identity. TE Cricket is also a platform for Tamil youth to emerge as leaders and architects of our cultural identity.

Individual players and teams around the world are invited to develop and display their skills by competing in a global platform – representing Tamil people and internationally promoting the Tamil identity.

Mission

• Represent Tamil Eelam on a global platform thus promoting cultural identity whilst simultaneously uniting the diaspora.
• Promote a sense of belonging and pride within Tamil Eelam and the Diaspora.
• Encourage, support and develop the talents of aspiring Eelam Tamil cricket players, thereby enabling empowerment and purposefulness.
• Provide an accessible pathway for Eelam Tamils around the world to participate and compete in cricket at an international level.

• Identity
• Empowerment
