Instagram sponsors Toronto International Film Festival <p>By The Canadian Press<p>Wed., July 6, 2016<p>The Toronto International Film Festival and Instagram have teamed up for a new digital shorts competition.<p>Directors Ava DuVernay and Xavier Dolan are among the jury members for the TIFFxInstagram Shorts Festival.<p>Filmmakers from around the world are invited to upload their original 60-second-or-less short using Instagram video.<p>The deadline for submissions to the competition, which opened Wednesday, is July 20.<p>TIFF programmers will select 30 finalists to be featured on its website and Instagram channel.<p>A six-person jury, which also includes music video director Nabil Elderkin and stop-motion animation artist Rachel Ryle, will then select one winner.<p>The film with the most “likes” on Instagram will also receive the Fan Favourite Award.<p>Awards will be announced Aug. 18.
