The World Tennis Day Showdown Presented by the Financial Times will feature a rematch of two Wimbledon finals as Cash plays Lendl (Cash beat Lendl to win Wimbledon in 1987) and Agassi takes on Sampras (Sampras defeated Agassi for the 1999 Wimbledon title).
The four Showdown events – in Bangkok, Hong Kong, London and New York – will each feature current or former pros all of whom have either been ranked No. 1 in the World or reached a Grand Slam final, if not both.
World Tennis Day was started in 2013 by StarGames and the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The ITF works with its member nations to host events to mark the occasion and promote participation in the sport at the grassroots level. In 2013, 55 countries hosted events as part of the first-ever World Tennis Day.
