Responsible for seeking, signing and servicing Basketball sports marketing assets in the NBA and grass roots programs. This position will lead all Basketball Sports Marketing while constantly looking for improvements and growth opportunities for the sport.


MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Set the vision, strategy, plan and budget for Basketball Sports Marketing.
  • Communicate daily with NB GM Sports Marketing, GM Basketball, a designated member of the NB Marketing department, players, coaches, agents/agencies and staff to assess product needs/issues. Responsible for accurate and timely delivery to the aforementioned athletes and organizations. Work with NB product team(s) to ensure complete delivery of product/uniform packages. Build relationships with athletes, agents/agencies, coaches and equipment managers.
  • Maintain constant communication with all areas of New Balance Marketing and fulfill requests.
  • Execute Basketball Sports Marketing footwear, apparel and equipment order management and work closely with Team Sales. Communicate with New Balance warehouses to ensure timely deliveries as needed. Monitor and maintain inventory within these categories. Work with sports marketing planning to ensure product delivery is timely and in line with NB brand initiatives.
  • Organize and maintain information files for all categorical programs, athletes, schools, and coaches (contracted and non-contracted). Maintain database of all Basketball Sports Marketing assets on shared drive, and communicate with newbalance.com to maintain accuracy on all contractual merchandise agreements.
  • Coordinate presence at key events. Attend competitions, tradeshows and conventions as needed. Manage various special projects as directed by GM Sports Marketing and GM Basketball.
  • Support Basketball Business Unit in creation of the Basketball collateral materials (catalogs, brochures, etc…).
  • Develop relationships with leagues, federations and teams that lead to partnerships with New Balance.
  • Work closely with product teams to help in product development, testing, marketing and sales.
  • Provide weekly update to GM of Sports Marketing.


    Required Skills

  • BS/BA plus 7-10 years of experience required including 5 years of directly related experience in Basketball Sports Marketing. Experience with Basketball footwear player agreements.
  • Technical: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and SMART Systems.
  • Communication/Language: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong results and service orientation. Advanced ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism. Advanced ability to network and utilize internal and external resources. Excellent presentation skills required to be able to present to a wide audience.
  • Other: Advanced ability to handle multiple and completing priorities and requests. Excellent attention to details and deadlines. Advanced ability to exercise good judgment in setting priorities, executing instructions and follow-through.
  • Advanced ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented and team environment.
  • Established Global Basketball industry contacts with players, player representatives, federations, teams and the NBA.
  • Basketball account relationships is a plus.
  • Frequent domestic travel required
