Job Description Summary: In partnership with the Sr Director Global Sponsorship, manages activities and programs relating to The Coca-Cola Company’s long-standing global association with the Olympic Games. Provides strategic direction for The Coca-Cola Company’s long-standing global association with the Olympic Games and the Paralympics. Helps to develop solid project teams in each host country for the Olympic Games through knowledge transfer and on-going subject matter expertise consulting. Develops and leverages strong, productive working relationships with the International Olympic Committee, organizing committees for the Olympic Games and the International Paralympic Committee. Part of the team planning and implementing highly-complex, long-term, sponsorship agreements of significant strategic importance to the Company; and overseeing the development and on-site execution of corporate programs.


Duties Rights-holder management:

  • Develops an in-depth understanding of IOC and IPC (“Rights-holders”) organizations and key objectives and builds relationships with key personnel of Rights-holders.
  • Works with the Sr Director, Global Sponsorship in developing and executing an annual partnership management plans with Rights-holders.
  • Understands the objectives and deliverables of all Corporate functions’ activities relating to the Olympic Games and works with Corporate associates (legal, fiancé, etc) to identify interdependencies and potential issues and ensures appropriate coordination with Rights-holders and host country project teams.
  • As assigned by the Sr Director, Global Sponsorships, represents Company at Rights-holder meetings and conferences; coordinates interaction between Rights-holders and all Company constituents (including corporate functions, Global Marketing, and local project teams).
  • Manages communications with all internal and external constituents relative to Rights-holders.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key fellow-partners and other constituents (broadcasters, licensees, agencies, etc.); and briefs senior management on Rights-holder issues and opportunities and facilitates interaction between Company and Rights-holder executives.
  • Oversees all approvals managed by Approvals Manager.


    Host country capability development:

  • Understands host country business and brand objectives; educates host country, bottler, and Company senior management (marketing managers, bottler’s teams and regional marketing / operations managers) on opportunities for leveraging global events.
  • Supports the host countries development of strong visions and event legacies.
  • Coordinates master project planning for Olympic & Paralympic project teams.
  • Manages development of Future Host Country Capability building through conducting disciplined review of project teams’ plans and progress via 9 Months Out, 3 Months Out, OTR Observation Program, Games Time Observation and After-Action Review programs.
  • Consults with project teams and corporate functions in the planning for and execution of second-tier negotiations with Rights-holders (such as value-in-kind plans and dual licensing programs).


    Event execution:

  • Leads on-site approvals and coordinates all on-site rights-holder contact at Olympic Games.
  • Coordinates activities of corporate functions and the development of IMCR plans for implementation at global events. Ensures that all program activation is consistent with brand and event strategies.
  • Consults with project team on venue-operations during events.
  • Designs, executes, and produces after action reviews for Olympic events.
  • Delivers future host country training programs for Olympic Games and at other global events.


    Program management:

  • Manages design and delivery of corporately-delivered programs (such as youth participation programs, Powerade athletes’ village activation, etc.).
  • Liaises with Global Marketing to ensure appropriate communications with participating markets and central functions (i.e.: brand teams).
  • Builds budgets and charge-back mechanisms including the contractual commitments with the IOC and Local Organizing Committees on Value in Kind.
  • Identifies and manages consultants and agencies needed for program delivery.
  • Manages Olympic intern program.
  • Manages field of play program of hydration elements.


    Olympic Games-related functions:

  • Identifies and creates additional content for such intranet sites as needed.
  • Collects, organizes and maintains all Olympic materials (videos, after-action reviews, learnings, paper files, data bases, etc.).
  • Manages a process for reviewing, evaluating, and responding to outside submissions for sports and entertainment sponsorships.


    Special projects:

  • Manages the Global involvement of the Olympic Torch relay in partnership with Host Country.
  • Support BUs in all Olympics related inquiries as needed.


    Required Skills

    Functional Competencies:

  • Knowledge of TCCC and Bottlers’ global organization and experience working with it.
  • Understanding of how to leverage a Marketing asset to achieve Business results.
  • Global experience, global mind-set; experience working across multiple geographies and diverse cultures, backgrounds and experiences to find common ground to inspire action for a new way of driving global assets and partnerships.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong executive presence and influencing skills with proven ability to provide strategic guidance with Executive level leaders as well as external partners.
  • Proven experience leading and developing global teams across multiple geographic regions.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Proven experience in working in high-pressure environments with ability to be agile, adapt and find solutions quickly.


    Financial / Job Scope:

  • Manage budget for global Olympic Activations such as Future Host Country Programs
  • Direct responsibilities for managing up to $24,000,000 (contractual marketing in kind).
  • Provides leadership for up to three concurrent project teams each with project budgets ranging from $30,000,000 to $90,000,000
  • Manages properties used by 50+ Company markets.


    Experience / Education:

  • Ten years’ work experience.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication and, preferably one or more of Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin, German.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing or Management

    Travel Requirements:

  • International: 25%
  • Domestic: 5%
