Are you the right customer-obsessed leader to help take the largest global Sports and Outdoors retailer to the next level? The Sr. Manager, Marketing and 3P for Sports and Outdoors leads the team that is responsible for all traffic driving and third party sales for the Amazon.com Sports and Outdoors (S&O) group. S&O is a diverse set of categories in both mature and early stages of growth. It includes Fitness, Sportsman, Outdoors and Sports (Fanshop/Team/Golf). This role builds the vision for the S&O brand and its diverse customer set, and creates and implements a 3-5 year marketing plan that enables long term sustainable growth.


The ideal candidate is both a builder and an operator. The candidate must solve entrenched problems that require buy in at high levels across a variety of stakeholder orgs (eg Apparel, Heavy/Bulky, Fanshop). They also drive improvements in search CX, Advertising, Marketing Strategies (Influencers/Partnership Models) that impact not only S&O but partner categories. They work directly with Fashion Marketing and Advertising where Athletic and Outdoor Apparel cross over. They also partner with digital programs such as Prime Video to drive co-marketing that aligns Fanshop with Thursday Night Football or NBA.tv.


S&O marketing continues to redefine its brand experience and the amplitude and sophistication of its marketing activities to support acceleration in the growth of several of its largest categories. The candidate will have broad purview to define a “go big” marketing strategy, and will have discretion to create a marketing budget to support it. You have a track record of creativity, operational excellence, using analytics to drive results, and working with tech teams to build new and effective marketing tools. You are passionate about measuring performance and ROI and for understanding what drives consumer behavior with the experience to turn those learnings into action.


In addition to marketing responsibilities, the candidate will manage the large and growing 3P marketplace business, with two category merchant managers. This requires the candidate to influence without authority through a dispersed 3P management team to enable strong selection and seller growth, proper seller fee management, fast track and multiple CX projects. The team that reports to them also supports Hardlines-wide initiatives, and this leader is required to help set that strategy across business groups.


As Senior Manager of Marketing and 3P for Sports and Outdoors your key responsibilities will include:

  • Builds and manages a team of four high performing marketing and category merchant managers
  • Defines the S&O customer segmentation model, and uses that to build marketing and merchandising strategies
  • Defines the Amazon Sports and Outdoors brand. Enables that brand through creative and CX mechanisms
  • Defines the Amazon Sports and Outdoors Marketing and Merchandising strategy, inclusive of owned and operated channels, as well as Social, Advertising, Influencer and Sponsorship channels
  • Manages annual marketing and advertising budget, and ensures optimization through automation and metrics tracking
  • Responsible for engaging matrixed stakeholders within the marketing and advertising organization to build data-driven shared strategies and goals to deliver for the S&O customer
  • Partners with Vendor Management and Instock teams to identify core areas of focus for S&O and enable them through a focus on metrics and tracking mechanisms.
  • Owns the P&L and strategy for fast growing and large third party marketplace for S&O


    Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or 10+ years of equivalent experience in a large company
  • 10+ years of experience in one or more of the following marketing areas: customer acquisition, content marketing, marketing communications, product marketing or channel marketing, in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • 5+ years of experience managing high-performing marketing teams.
  • 7+ years of experience working with digital, web-based products.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA, MS or MA in Marketing or related field
  • Experience working within technical marketing tools and building new scalable technologies.
  • Experience in the retail industry.
  • Superior communication and analytical skills, including strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems.
  • Excellent organization, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience using SQL and similar queries to analyze data.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
