Started in 2009, the Trophy Series pits the Pittsburg State Gorillas and Missouri Southern Lions in a head-to-head competition between the two schools with the winner taking home a trophy each year. The two schools play each other in 12 sports: football, volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's track and field (indoor and outdoor), baseball and softball. The winner of the majority of regular season games, or the winner of the conference track and field and cross country meets, wins points toward the series.
